Action 4 - Dissemination & Stakeholder engagement

Action 4. The outputs of IDEM will be disseminated by means of a dedicated web site and the engagement of stakeholders. Moreover, the outputs of IDEM project will be used to provide new insights useful for the designation of deep Mediterranean protected areas.

Task 4.1. IDEM site web publication. The web site dedicated to IDEM will be used to disseminate the project results, outputs and products (i.e., reports, guidelines, repository of data and GIS maps). Press releases will be also disseminated through the most common social networks. All the material will be available and subjected to gold open access. (Leader UNIVPM; Participants: CNR, CSIC, DFMR, ENEA, IFREMER, TAU, UB, UM).

Task 4.2. Stakeholders inclusion. The possible stakeholders will be identified and divided into different groups, depending on their typology of interest and involvement in the MSFD. Stakeholders with greater involvement will include: policy makers (EC Environment, Maritime Affairs & Fisheries, national ministries for the environment), national bodies responsible for MSFD (Spanish Institute of Oceanography-IEO for Spain;  Ministry of Environment, ISPRA, ARPAs for Italy; Environment and Resources Authority-ERA for Malta; Agence des aires marins protégées-Aamp, Museum d'Histoire Naturelle-MNHN & Bureau des Ressources Minières-BRGM for France), bodies responsible for the exploitation, management and conservation of coastal and deep-sea resources, such as the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean and the Black Sea-GFCM, UNEP, FAO), NGOs (WWF MED, IUCN), and others as Convention on Biological Diversity, Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC), scientific bodies and institutions, including the International Commission for the Scientific Exploration of the Mediterranean (CIESM). The stakeholders will be engaged by means of dedicated newsletters, workshops and participation to the scientific meeting of IDEM. Task 4.3. Production of guidelines for the identification of deep MPAs. Outcome of the project will be used to identify specific guidelines for deep-sea MPA identification (Leader: UNIVPM; Participants: CNR, CSIC, DFMR, ENEA, IFREMER, TAU, UB, UM, UNIVPM).
